ACER campestre - English Maple, Hedge Maple
Large, round-headed tree, strong growing and hardy. A tough maple for exposed sites/wind. Used as specimen, shelter or shade and can be clipped as a hedge. Autumn foliage is clear yellow, often flushed with red.

BUXUS sempervirens - English Box
Slow-growing dense low hedge, excellent for clipping or topiary. Very hardy and tolerant of most soils except wet. Takes coastal wind, and grows in sun or shade. Fertilise regularly to maintain lush greenness. Spacing for hedging: 15cm (6 inches) is ideal if you want your plants to join up quickly.

CALLISTEMON John Mashlan - Pink Bottlebrush
Tough but pretty shrub, with masses of candyfloss pink flowers in spring and autumn. Birds love the flowers, especially tui. A very fast screen or filler; can be used as a formal clipped hedge (50cm to 70cm spacing), or as a low shelter (1m spacing). Tolerant of drought, wind and damp soils. Flowers better in full sun, and a light trim after flowering helps keep plant bushy.

CALLISTEMON Kings Park Special - Red Bottlebrush
Tough, wind-hardy, coastal-hardy, fast-growing shrub for moist to dry conditions. Excellent for banks, borders and screens. Prolific bright-red flowers spring and early summer attract birds (especially tuis) and give a colourful display. Clipping occasionally will help maintain bushiness, while more frequent clipping will produce a good hedge. Flowers best in full sun.

CALLISTEMON Little John - Dwarf Bottlebrush
Compact grower with masses of short, deep-red flower brushes through spring and early summer, with occasional blooms almost year round; flowers better in full sun. Makes an attractive low edging and is a great addition to rockeries or mixed plantings in low-maintenance gardens. Tolerant of drought, coastal winds and dry to slightly damp soils. Trim lightly after flowering to keep plant bushy.

A very compact new dwarf semi-prostrate bottlebrush with small light green leaves and small red flower brushes in spring. Ideal for rockeries and tubs or for low hedges or garden edges. Reasonably hardy. Clipping will help maintain bushiness.

Tall shrub with graceful weeping form, white papery bark, distinctive coppery-pink new shoots and creamy yellow flowers in summer. Birds love the nectar. A versatile, tough shrub with small, rounded, glossy, rich-green leaves. Compact and bushy, it is ideal for shaping and makes a beautiful ornamental hedge. Or use as a superior green filler. Hardy and tolerant of coastal winds, poor, dry or sandy soils, sun or shade. Hardier to frost than Coprosma repens.
